**Job Summary**

Are you a Civil Engineer with strong analytical skills and experience in technical delivery of water engineering projects? We have an exciting career role in our established Water team, based in either Exeter or Bristol.

You will work alongside our project managers and lead design engineers throughout the project design and delivery cycle, supporting various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects to include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs and preparation of reports and technical specifications.

The Team:

Our Water team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in the UK, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients:

+ Wessex Water – AECOM has been appointed on several AMP7 frameworks, including the Capital Delivery framework.

+ Thames Water – AECOM has positions across all scales of delivery including major projects such as Thames Tideway Tunnel, Deephams STW upgrade and ‘Capital Delivery’ infra and non-infra schemes across the Thames region.

+ Severn Trent Water – AECOM has been appointed on major schemes Lot 1 of Severn Trent Water’s new Design Services Framework for AMP7. Our portfolio of projects is building rapidly.

You will join our technical discipline team and wider technical practice network, enabling you to build your knowledge, skills and career with like-minded engineers globally.

The Role:

As a Civil Engineer, you will work closely with our Water and other discipline teams nationwide. You will be expected to deliver a high calibre of technical quality, contribute to bids, and interface with clients and collaborators in design and planning. You will seek innovation and trial new methods, being inquisitive by nature.

You will support technical delivery through from conception to handover. Some of these projects will be large-scale and prestigious CV-builders.

This role will include visits to site to carry out site surveys and the support of liaisons with clients, statutory authorities, contractors and suppliers.

Required/Essential Skills & Experience:

+ Working toward a relevant professional chartered institute, for example ICE

+ Experience in the technical delivery of water and wastewater engineering projects

+ Knowledge of one, or all, of the following;

– Design of clean water networks, pump stations, service reservoirs and treatment works

– Design of wastewater networks including gravity systems, rising mains, pump stations and wastewater treatment works

– Design of surface water networks including gravity networks, pump stations and outfalls

– Pressurised pipe and/or gravitational system hydraulic design

– Using hydraulic design software packages including InfoWorks, MicroDrainage, EPANET etc.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills, using these to develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and external clients where required

+ Sound problem solving skills, accountability for assigned work, and solid written and verbal communication skills.

+ Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

+ Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

+ Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

+ Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

+ Identifies discrepancies in results.

+ Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

+ Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

**Minimum Requirements**

Desirable Skills & Experience:

+ Water and wastewater treatment project experience across feasibility, outline, detailed design, construction support extremely desirable

+ Experience working for contractors in a design and build environment

+ Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and 3D Design tools and other proprietary software products

+ Industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ A degree or equivalent in civil engineering or similar related
