**Job Summary**

Shimmick Construction, an AECOM Company, is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry Level Construction Engineer in our Irvine, CA office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Provides construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjust designs to meet site conditions.

+ Oversees construction supervision, and provides final approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications.

+ Facilitates construction and start-up activities.

+ Ensures that the design engineering requirements are complied with by reviewing all design drawings/specifications and making daily field inspections as may be required to support quality functions.

+ Reviews cost controls and reports.

+ Submits required project submittals for approval.

+ Prepares construction related reports based on job site inspections.

+ Keeps project management informed of major cost overruns and under-runs.

+ Assists in developing, updating and monitoring planning and scheduling flow charts.

+ Performs all engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

+ Interprets plans and specifications.

+ Prepares project schedules.

+ Prepares miscellaneous reports for project management providing information required to prepare the necessary submittals, designs, layouts, etc. involved in the construction of the assigned project.

+ Prepares and reviews subcontracts, change orders and contract value engineering claims and verifies requests for payment by subcontractors.

+ Reviews and analyzes production reports.

+ Coordinates subcontractors' activities.

+ Reviews, verifies and reports quantities to the project controls department.

+ Requisitions and assures delivery of construction materials.

+ Obtains necessary permits and coordinates construction activities with city and state inspection agencies.

+ Responsible for documentation of and distribution of all design changes and field modifications.

+ Works with other project entities to assure proper content and assembly of start-up work packages.

+ Works with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues as may be required.

+ Maintains a good client relationship.

**Minimum Requirements**

Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience.
