Job Responsibilities/Duties
The Fire Protection Engineer will assure that fire hazards are controlled/mitigated, that life safety is maintained, and that facilities and operations are in compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) contract requirements, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards, and other applicable statutory requirements.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
Provide fire hazards analysis, facility fire assessments, design and work document reviews, and oversight of operations to help assure fire safety.

Interface with the Hanford Fire Marshal (HFM) and, if qualified as a Deputy Fire Marshal (DFM), function on the behalf of the HFM in performing DFM responsibilities as authorized.
Work closely with project nuclear safety staff to maintain the fire hazards analyses for the projects and to support maintenance of the documented safety analyses.
Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the codes, principles, practices, and techniques in the field of fire protection engineering including NFPA and regulatory codes.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS in Fire Protection Engineering or related technical field and 5 years related experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in a DOE/DOD environment.
